Bio
Robbie Henshaw is one of Ireland's finest players. A dynamic centre and fullback, he's a firm favourite with Ireland and Leinster fans.
Born 12 June 1993, Robbie Henshaw started playing rugby while he studied at Marist College in Athlone. From a young age, he was highly successful. In 2011, he was part of the Buccaneers U19 team that won the Connacht League and Cup and the All Ireland League. Plus, he was captain of the school's rugby team in 2012 when they won their first Connacht Senior Schools Cup in 35 years.
Throughout his junior career, Robbie Henshaw was part of the Connacht junior setup. In 2011, he was a member of the Connacht team that completed a Grand Slam in the U20 Interprovincial Championship and he entered the Connacht academy ahead of the 2012-13 season.
Robbie Henshaw was then first capped for the senior team in 2012. He played regularly for the side in domestic and European competitions before he left in 2016. In his final year with the club, he helped them win their first ever major trophy, the 2015-16 PRO12.
After leaving Connacht, Robbie Henshaw joined Leinster, who he has played for ever since. During this time, he's captured the PRO14, the Celtic Cup and the Heineken Champions Cup. This includes four back-to-back PRO14 victories in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Although Robbie Henshaw has been hugely successful at domestic level, he's arguably experienced his greatest successes on the international stage. He played for several Ireland representative teams throughout his youth and was capped by the first team in 2013. Since, he's appeared more than 50 times for Ireland.
Thanks to his impressive appearances for Ireland, Robbie Henshaw was called up to represent the British and Irish Lions in 2017. However, he was injured during the tour and was forced to leave early. Recently, he was named in the squad for the 2021 British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa.
With some of his best years still ahead of him, we can't wait to see what else Robbie Henshaw can achieve in the game.
