Bio

Will Genia is a superstar of Australian rugby and one of the best scrum halves to ever play the game. Throughout his distinguished career, he's represented the Wallabies more than 100 times and he's also enjoyed stints at elite domestic clubs like Stade Français, the Reds and the Rebels.

Born in Papua New Guinea on 17 January 1988, Will Genia only began playing rugby union when he moved to Australia at the age of 12. However, he took to the game quickly and represented Australia at schoolboy level. From here, he also represented his country at U19 and U20 level before making his debut for the Wallabies in 2009.

Will Genia's senior career began in 2007, when he made his debut for the Reds at the age of 19. He then stayed with the Reds until 2015, making more than 100 appearances for the side in the process. The highlight of this portion of his career came in 2011, when he won the Super Rugby title with the side.

When his contract with the Reds came to an end in 2015, rumours circulated that Will Genia was moving to England. However, he instead moved to French giants Stade Français. Between 2015 and 2017, he made 21 appearances for the side before he returned to Australia and signed for the Rebels. However, Will Genia then only stayed with the Rebels for two Super Rugby seasons (2018 and 2019). Ever since, he has played for the Kintetsu Liners in Japan.

Although he's highly distinguished at the domestic level, Will Genia is best known for his time in an Australian shirt. Between 2009 and 2019, he represented the Wallabies 110 times. He also regularly captained the side between 2011 and 2013.

With plenty still to offer at the elite level, we can't wait to see what else Will Genia can achieve in the game.
