Stade Montois Rugby

Stade Montois Rugby is a French rugby union team that currently competes in the Pro D2, France’s second division.

The club was established in 1908 and their black and yellow kit earned them the nickname Les Abeilles (The Bees).

Between the late 1940s and early 1960s, the Stade Montois rugby team made it to the final of the French Championship four times. They failed to secure the title on the first three occasions, losing to Castres Olympique in 1949, FC Lourdes in 1953, and Racing Club de France in 1959. They finally claimed victory in 1963, with a 9-6 win against US Dax.

Alongside their success in the French Championship, Stade Montois won the Challenge Yves du Manoir for three consecutive years - 1960, 1961, and 1962. They were also runners up in 1958 and 1966.

In the professional era of rugby, the club won their first Pro D2 title in 2002 and were promotion playoff winners in 2008 and 2012. In recent years, the team has spent most of its time in the Pro D2.

However, with plenty of successes under their belts, we couldn’t be more excited to see what the future holds for Stade Montois.
