Taranaki Bulls Rugby Team

The Taranaki rugby team, also known as the Taranaki Bulls, is a professional rugby team that competes in New Zealand's Bunnings NPC competition. The team is also affiliated with the Chiefs Super Rugby franchise.

Read on to discover even more about the Taranaki rugby team. On this page you can learn all about the side's history and read a breakdown of the team's current squad. You can also see their latest results and upcoming fixtures.

The history of the Taranaki rugby team can be traced back to the formation of the Taranaki rugby union in 1885. However, the modern version of the Taranaki rugby team that we know today was formed in 1976, when the National Provincial Championship was established.

Since then, the Taranaki rugby team has taken part in every season of the National Provincial Championship, which is now known as the Bunnings NPC. During this period, they've won the overall championship once, in 2014.

On top of this, the Taranaki rugby team has also won the National Provincial Championship Second Division North Island title four times (1976, 1982, 1983 and 1984). They've also won the National Provincial Championship Second Division in 1985, 1992 and 1995, and they captured the Bunnings NPC Championship Division title in 2021.

Today, the Taranaki rugby team plays in the premiership division of the Bunnings NPC. They play their home games at the TET Stadium and Events Centre, which has a capacity of 3,000.

Due to the fact that the Taranaki rugby squad competes in the premiership division of the Bunnings NPC, a number of international players compete for the side. This includes all three of the Barrett brothers, who all regularly play for the All Blacks.

On top of this, the current Taranaki rugby squad also contains more than 10 players who are contracted to play Super Rugby. The majority of these players represent the Chiefs, but some Taranaki rugby stars also represent the Blues, the Hurricanes and the Crusaders.
