The Western Province rugby team, known as the DHL Western Province for sponsorship reasons, is a South African rugby team that competes in the Currie Cup tournament. The team is the most successful in the history of the competition. They've won a record breaking 34 titles.

The history of the Western Province rugby team can be traced all the way back to 1883. Ever since, the side has been hugely successful. They won the inaugural edition of the Currie Cup in 1892, and since they've won the competition another 33 times.
Although all of South Africa's other Currie Cup teams changed their names in the 1990s, the Western Province rugby team never did. As a result, the team has kept the same name throughout its history. That said, the side has been sponsored by several different businesses over the years. They're also informally known by many South African rugby fans as either Die Streeptruie (the striped jerseys in Afrikaans), Province, or simply WP.
Today, the Western Province rugby team is as strong as it has ever been. The team plays its home games at Cape Town Stadium, where up to 55,000 fans can pack in to watch matches.
Due to the unbelievable level of success the side has experienced over the course of its history, some of the finest players to ever represent the Springboks have also played for Western Province, including Bryan Habana, Eben Etzebeth and Percy Montgomery.
Today, the Western Province rugby squad remains strong. However, it isn't as star studded as it once was. In the current squad, only Hilton Lobberts has been capped by the Springboks. That said, the team remains packed with young stars of South African rugby and is well led by captain Nama Xaba.
